Video of Rehab Exercise Session
Sometimes it’s hard to imagine from words what a session will be like. Here’s a video of a rehab exercise consultation. Depending on your goals your therapist will use different equipment and different exercises.
What types of exercise might be involved?
One of the best things about working with us is our diverse skill set. This means we have multiple ways to tackle a pain or restriction complaint, this is especially important with scoliosis as there can be a wide variation between spine to spine and between one day and the next. Not only do we come up with a personalised program just for you, but we also take into consideration you spine on the day, how you are moving that day and what your energy levels are like.
Free weights
We may use varying kinds of free weights including dumbbells, kettlebells and weighted balls to name a few. We might move an area in isolation or we might be working on strengthening a certain set of muscles or chain of the body.
Pilates equipment
We may use varying types of Pilates equipment including the reformer, wunda chair, cadillac / trapeze or smaller equipment such as medicine balls, chi balls, magic circles and fitness bands. The Pilates equipment is great for offloading an injured area.
Cable Machine
Our cable machine is great for scoliosis, we can work on anti rotation movements with very light resistance to slowly wake up lazy, underworked muscles.
Movement Therapy
Movement therapy can mean a lot of things. In this context we are referring to specific movements that we have tested help reduce or eliminate your pain or restriction. This is a great tool for you to learn as it can be utilised anywhere, anytime. With scoliosis movements are done slowly and intentionally, it’s not about high number of reps but more the quality of the movement therapy.
